Banzo are well known for their food cart on the square in Madison downtown. However on the east side they also have a restaurant with some really nice patio seating for the summer.
They keep the menu simple and you pre order at the counter. Sometimes they run specials like the “Sabich”. The menu is mostly open pita pocket sandwiches or plates. We tried couple of them, one with falafels and other with grilled eggplants.
The pita is soft and more like the israeli pita. They have a nice mix of fresh vegetables for the crunch as well as a couple of home made potato chips fried golden brown. Delicious and satisfying.
The flalfel is also really good quality. Made fresh with sesame and parsley and with the texture coarse but cooked throughly.
The fries are also perfectly crisped on the outside and soft and cooked on the inside. They are flavorful with a delicious spice mix of of zatar – sesame and wild dried thyme.
