For us Fit Fresh cuisine in fitchburg was a blessed discovery at the start of 2015. In an area which is dominated mostly by franchises this was a gem in a surprising locations. We found Fit Fresh cuisine attached to a gymnasium tucked away in the corner of an industrial looking area. However this place has turned out to be a delight for us as specifically it ensured we ate healthy for our work week lunches.
Its almost impossible for me to stick to healthy food unless its fresh, delicious, exciting and truly gives me cravings to eat it again. With this little place i was pleasantly hooked on and the food helped me achieve some success even with my health goals. But more importantly i happily eat a meal here, sometimes even while looking forward to it as well. I think this is where they strike a good balance and truly succeed at a not so easy task.
Chef John crafts some delicious dishes along-with Samantha and the rest of the team. And nutrition wise i think the meals are carefully designed to be very well balanced because they fill me up and last me a while. The ingredients are good quality, the meals are prepared once you order. They have a menu from which you can call ahead and order but they also do weekly or monthly meal plans. The meal plans can be two or three meals a day depending on your choice. We for the most part order from the menu because of unpredictable travel, obsession to cook myself or our frequent eating out from desire to try new things.
In the smoothies at Fit Fresh Cuisine, the quencher is my favorite in summer with coconut water and mint featured ending up being very refreshing. In the elixir section i have tried all 3 every now and then and they are fresh and have something unique about them like the kick of cayenne in the Turbo. In the fruit and yogurt themed dishes palisade acai bowl is by far my favorite. It has the acidity of acai and berries balanced by highly addictive drizzle of tahini and the crunch of the house granola and chia seeds. i have had this countless time and its very filling and is fun to eat because of the light and airiness of the blended ice. The tahini drizzle which was very new for me is deliciously nutty and creamy and was a revelation in smoothie like drinks.
The salads at Fit Fresh Cuisine are well crafted with house made dressings and like salads are supposed to give you a healthy lasting blast of nutrients with nuts, fruits and cheeses featured. The harvest salad featured below has kale, quinoa, pickled onions, apples, walnuts, Pepita and feta making it a scrumptious vegetarian salad. The Asian chicken salad which we have tried is also very good.
Sometimes you do feel like having pizza and the flat-breads here come to rescue. Below is the Mediterranean flatbread but the Thai chicken one is also very delicious and packs some crunch and heat.
The buffalo chicken flatbread is made special by the pungent bleu cheese and the fresh tomatoes.
The nosh is one of my favorite vegetarian sandwiches. The lovers pair of beets and chevre are combined with carrots and arugula on a really nice poppy seed and sesame bread and makes for a delicious little afternoon sandwich treat.
The bread used for their sandwich is actually quite delicious and sometimes i order the sandwiches because i love the bread. The baja chicken sandwich packs some jalapeno heat and is crunchy and colorful from the cabbage slaw.
Apart from the menu i have also tried their meal plan a few times. The way it works is you sign up a week early and then every Monday, Wednesday and Friday you pick your meals for couple of days which are neatly packed ready for your pickup. The ingredients are individually packed as required, per-prepped as appropriate and come with tips and recipes. Some of them are truly crave-worthy like the multi-grain waffles with berries and protein whip.
Some meals require some cooking but not huge amount of time or skills are required. They try to design meals so that i have always seen interesting sides and a whole lot of colors on my plate in the week which is what we like.
The staff here is brilliant and friendly. The wait times are minimal, especially if you order ahead. While you wait, hydrate yourself with fruit or cucumber infused water. There is clean modern space for you to sit and enjoy the meal as well. We look forward to eating deliciously with Fit Fresh Cuisine and meet more of our health goals in 2016. The monthly specials also add something new for us to try which is different from the standard menu.
