Miko Poke on monroe street take Poke which is a hawaian fish salad and democratizes it into different cusines and present it as a customizable rice bowl.
You can choose white or brown rice and we tried the white rice which was quite nicely cooked and seasone i believe with vinegar just like good sushi rice. Infact this is the first smell you can sense as you enter the restaurant, and believe me it is inviting.
You can choose some recommended bowl recipes or make your own. I decided to make an asian inspired chicken themed bowl. I went for roasted chicken on top of my rice as my protein. The chicken was actually very nicely done, soft, juicy and with that very distinct and lovely chicken broth like flavor. I topped mine with some cucumber, radishes, cilantro and scallions. Some sesame and crisp fried onions added the crunch and the scalion ginger aioli was creamy but refreshing. It was satisfying and filling and only wish would have been for one of the vegetables to be fresh pickled to add some acid.
Meg went a bit hawaian in her bowl with some pineapple. The seating is modern and the service is quick and friendly.
We tried the shaved ice but for our preferences the syrup was more sweet than itense. Would have liked it to be more flavor focussed but i think lot of people like it the way they serve and can be quite a treat as summer approaches.
